This Cookie Policy explains the small files that raptors.tech stores on your device when you visit the site, why we use them, and the controls you have. Read it alongside our Privacy Statement.
What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your browser. It lets the site remember information about your visit. Cookies are not programs and cannot run code on your device. Some sites, including ours, also use your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way.
We use Google Tag Manager to load and manage the analytics tag described below. Tag Manager is a container: loading it contacts Google's servers, as any web request does, but it sets no cookie and sends no analytics data until you accept analytics. Tag Manager may also send Google an occasional technical report on how its tags ran. That report includes the address of the page but no cookie or identifier from your browser.
Categories we use
We use the smallest set needed to run the site properly and to understand whether the content is useful. Analytics cookies do not load until you accept them. We do not use cookies for behavioural advertising or cross-site tracking.
Strictly necessary
We set no strictly necessary cookies. The only strictly necessary item is rap_consent_v1 in your browser's local storage. It remembers your consent choice so we do not ask again. It holds your analytics choice, the time you made it, and a fixed marker that advertising is off. It is set whatever you choose.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand which pages are read, how visitors arrive, which files are downloaded, and where the friction is. We look at the results in aggregated reports and use them to improve the writing and the structure of the site. Google processes this data as our analytics provider.
We run Google Consent Mode with analytics set to denied by default. Nothing is measured and no analytics cookie is set unless you accept analytics in the consent banner. If you decline, the site works normally. When you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies:
- _ga: a random identifier that lets Google Analytics recognise a returning browser. It holds no name, email or anything you type into our forms, but we treat it as personal data.
- _ga_ZEL72T3NQJ: keeps your current session and a count of your visits.
Each is renewed when you visit and kept for up to 2 years after your last visit. Some browsers shorten this. Google Analytics keeps event-level data linked to these identifiers for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months, after which only aggregated reports remain.
Preferences
We do not currently set preference cookies. If we add settings such as language, we will list them here first.
What we do not use
- Advertising cookies: we do not run paid programmatic advertising and we do not place ad-network trackers on the site.
- Cross-site tracking: we do not share your browsing across third-party sites.
- Social-media tracking pixels: when we link to LinkedIn or other networks, we link without an embedded tracker.
Your controls
On your first visit you see a consent banner with two choices of equal prominence: Accept analytics, or Decline, which keeps only the strictly necessary set. Nothing is pre-selected for you. You can change your choice at any time through the Cookie preferences link in the footer. If you accepted analytics and later decline, we stop collecting analytics from that moment and remove the Google Analytics cookies from your browser. An event recorded in the few seconds before you declined may still be sent.
Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies and local storage in their settings. Blocking strictly necessary storage may mean we ask for your choice again.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we change the cookie set we use. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent version.
